CHELSEA, NYC
ARTIST WORKSHOP
Student Workshop with Skillshare & Hudson Guild
Project Description
This project was in collaboration with the Hudson Guild, Empower up, and the Chelsea Elliot Houses. After researching the Hudson Guild, Empower up, and the Chelsea Elliot housing we had to choose a startup company to collaborate with as well. Through this partnership, services would focus on an interactive entrepreneurial experience for young adults and teens coming for the Chelsea Elliot Housing residents. The project was split into two parts the interior where the classes and services would be held, and the outdoor space where there would be a pop-up shop to introduce these services

Concept
As a group, we had decided to partner up with Skillshare which is an online learning platform with thousands of creative courses and classes taught by experts to help people learn new skills. Something that we appreciated was how Skillshare’s primary goal for each class was that students would finish a project. Through research, we discovered that the users we were focusing on have many obstacles when it comes to thinking about their future as well as their career. To create a rewarding experience for these teens the artist workshop would be a space where teens would work together to grow and succeed in the music, art, and fashion worlds. The use of curvilinear forms and layering of colors represents their meshing of both professions, cultures, as well as their journey to find their futures. Motifs and inspiration for the design are taken from cultural art pieces as well as symbols of the professions such as sound waves. This space works as a driving force to help these students grow, learn, and create.
